A favorite needlepoint customer stopped by the other day and we were talking about the Charley Harper Show and she commented that she had done one of the largest canvases and had it framed in her home. She has oh so generously offered to let us borrow it for the week and it is worth a trip in to see it! As you can see the piece is very large and worked completely in different stitches...it's really a masterpiece of stitching.

For the longest time we have not had a really good answer to the non mohair lace knitting question...but now we do...and it's a beauty! Findley from Juniper Moon is a 50 silk/50 merino laceweight in gorgeous colors...it's also a great value at 800 yards for $26. At every trade show there is one thing that dominates the story and at this past show it was definitely lace. If you click on the photo you will link to Juniper Moon Farms and you can even follow their lambcam...

A bit of ArtYarns is here...we're playing with a beaded silk as a trim on a Louet KidLin bias cowl with a pattern from Churchmouse. It's gorgeous, expensive stuff and it's fun to come up with ways to accent a piece. There are also lots of patterns on Ravelry or the ArtYarns website.

The Louet Show was great fun...here are our intrepid models, Pam and Anne. The day included gorgeous yarns and samples, a delightful representative from this family owned company and we are left with lots of beautiful yarn! The KidLin in particular is a combination of Kid Mohair and Linen which gives you all the beautiful elements of mohair but with more structure.

We've been knitting up lots of samples from the Churchmouse patterns...a felted beret, the bed slipper, the Blossom Baby Sweater, the bias mohair cowl...more to come!
Happy Summer!
Fondly,
Kathleen
